The second dive is to admire the beautiful reef, which terminates at two satellite atolls rich in fauna and corals.
All levels – ideal for accompanying snorkelers
To the north side of this bay with a sandy entrance is wall that drops 25 meters and then rises again, conducting us to a “carpet” of garden eels at a depth of around 17 meters. The northern side, rich in Acropora, is an excellent place for sightings of crocodile fish, shrimp and nudibranchs; its many pinnacles are teeming with glass fish and lion fish on the hunt.

The Fury Shoals atolls are among the Red Sea’s most well-known reefs. Normally accessible only through weekly cruises, the most famous points of the Fury Shoals can now be visited on a day trip organized by the TGI boat from Hamata Port. Reefs such as Abu Galawa, Shaab Claudio and Shaab Maksour have spectacular dive sites, teeming with marine life of all sizes and shapes, with the incredible colors of hard and soft corals and all of the reef fish. Thanks to its external position and warm temperatures, the reef abounds in large pelagic fish, schools of barracuda and giant migratory tuna; the reef sharks, of course, are not to be missed, and with a little bit of luck, at certain times of the year there are hammerhead and oceanic whitetip sharks.

Diving into the deep blue
Try the experience of apnea
Free diving is currently one of the most practiced water sports. Apnea techniques are easier to learn than you may think, and allow you to experience the feeling of total freedom of movement, to interact with marine life and, as many dream, to swim with dolphins. If you are not an advanced free diver, you can take one of the courses organized and promoted by TGI; for experts, courses and programs have been prepared under the guidance of technical director Gianluca Genoni.
This course gives an overview of various aspects of free diving. It’s also great way to test your suitability for certification.
An introduction to the purest form of diving: you will learn breathing techniques and familiarize yourself with diaphragmatic breathing. The SSI Level 1 course is well suited to acquiring correct technique for diving up to 20 meters (60 feet) in a manner as relaxed and confident as possible.
The SSI Level 2 course provides further knowledge about the apnea reflex of mammals, and how to respond to it. You will learn new and advanced equalization techniques and training methods that will help you pass the limit of 20 meters (60 feet) and to develop the skills necessary to free dive to a depth of 30 meters (90 feet).
The highlight of the SSI free-diving program (Level 3) takes you to a depth of 40 meters (120 feet). Diving well below the residual volume of the lungs, this is a specialist course for deep free diving.
Access to the sea
Modern and fully equipped
The jetty is situated directly in front of the dive center, and allows access to the sea beyond the reef via two platforms located at different heights, with respect to the sea, and two ladders that allow for entry into the water. A lift (with chair) is available for the mobility impaired. Diving services are also ensured here, such as a cylinder deposit and weights, always conveniently ready to be used by divers. On the jetty, qualified emergency personnel and a rescue motorboat are always standing by in case of an emergency.
